INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Patriotism appears to be the flavour of the Independence Day Week. Predictably, government at the centre and in the states are creating a nationalist frenzy among citizens by way of instructions on hoisting the tricolour and singing patriotic song. So did our school celebrated our 71st Independence Day. The function commenced with a warm welcome of the Chief Guest Mrs. Suman Trivedi , the President of Child Welfare Committee. She hoisted the flag in honour of our nation. Further the programme was continued in school hall which started with Prayer service seeking blessings from the Almighty for our nation. The beautiful cultural programme was put up which consisted of spectacular dances, patriotic song, English speech, Hindi speech and fancy dress competition by tiny tots. The programme was concluded with the golden words of the chief guest.

On this historic day, with freedom in mind & pride in our soul, let’s salute all those valiant martyrs & patriots who sacrificed their lives for securing the independence of our nation.

'NRITYA ARPAN' IN SOPHIA

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them”, marked by the selfless St. Mother Teresa to convey the message of brotherhood and fraternity. Throwing light on the same motto, on 6th September 2017, Father Babu Cheriyath and his group ‘Nritya Arpan’ arrived in Sophia to educate the students about the social evils prevailing in our society by putting up a small cultural programme.

The programme commenced with a brief introduction of Father Babu by Ma’am Sherly Sebastian. Then after, Father took on the floor to interact with the students regarding the child marriage, dowry, etc. These issues were effectively depicted in their cultural programme which started with a passionate patriotic dance, then a beautiful and enchanting dance of snake and peacock, after which they showcased a substantive dance-drama named ‘Tadapti’ to show the miserable state of women in Indian society. To lighten up the environment, they presented a magnetic Punjabi dance, after which they gave their last performance which was a dance-drama portraying the life of Mother Teresa presented in the bollywood style. Founder's Day- By Ashita Jain

REMEMBERING OUR FATHER FOUNDER

‘’Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’’

The above fact was perceived long back by a visionary and stalwart, Rt. Reverend Bishop Fortunatus  Henri  Caumont. He understood the paramount importance of girls’ education in changing the plight of girls and women and in the development of the country at large even in those days.

To throw the light on the same, on 4th April  2018, we all gathered for the morning assembly remembering our beloved Late Bishop Fortunatus Henri  Caumont.  A brief introduction of the father and all his righteous work was delivered. He was actually the founder of the Mission Sisters of Ajmer Congregation who devoted his life in the service of God and many downtrodden and oppressed people. He was a beacon of light in their lives. Gifted with great intelligence, affectionate nature, strength and his foresightedness, he was able to fulfill his dream by forming the MSA Congregation in Ajmer on 26TH April 1911 with the collaboration of his sister Mother Mary Matilda.  This introduction was followed by our traditional Diya Lighting. After which there  was scripture reading followed by the prayer service.

At last, the programme was concluded by his last words ’’Jesus, I Love You Without Reserve, Amen , Alleluia.’’ Thus, it proved that ‘’there was no higher religion than  human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed.’’

Everyone's gaze was stuck at them. Children squealed with excitement. They were welcomed by presents and flowers and even with mingled feelings of joy and sorrow as we bid farewell to our exceptional teachers - MA'AM LATA AND MA'AM SHUKLA. The beginning of the function was marked by lamp lightning- the traditional auspicious ceremony of our school. This was succeeded by prayer service. We offered our prayers to God, for every blessing may fall on them. Then the stage was ruled by our charming dolls through their energetic dance performance. Songs gripped the hearts of the audience so much that one might cry. A captivating song by the students mesmerized the spectators. Children are always willing to express their feelings. Pavi Gupta of class IV B, Shloka Kabra and Chhavi  Maheshwari of class VIII B did the task expressing their gratitude to the adorable teachers. Felicitation was next in the row. The decorated potted plants and gifts were presented to ma’am Lata and ma'am Shukla by Sister Helen and Sister Lavita respectively. The staff even praised the two radical teachers of our school.
